The enterprise mobility management (EMM) market is evolving to provide increasingly complete (and specific) services for the management of devices and applications. Here we study what it is and how it can cover the divergent needs of different companies.
Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) is a set of services and technologies designed to protect corporate data on employees’ mobile devices. Although it can acquire various forms, it generally consists of a set of mobile management systems and services that protect intellectual property; specific processes that guarantee the security of the data; and systems that must be integrated with a wide range of business IT systems to respond to a series of corporate concerns. In general, what type of EMM system is most convenient for a company depends on the specific mobile needs of the company in question, what works for one company may be inappropriate for another. Some companies may want to block employee devices completely, Allow them to erase them if they disappear. Others may focus on protecting specific applications. Others may concentrate on the data itself. Currently, many companies see EMM tools and services as a way to allow their workers to do more without losing mobility.
