Very soon you’ll want it as a birthday gift – no matter what it’s already been like – or Christmas. It is the first phone in the new generation of handsets manufactured by the Finnish company HMD Global –created by former Nokia owners – who wants to make a reference in the market and is trying to do everything.

After a long wait to know the latest Nokia 8, the company claims that this is the most powerful smartphone in its history, which comes to rival the heavyweights of the moment: The Samsung Galaxy S8, HTC U11, LG G6 and the Sony Xperia XZ Premium, among other highlights of this 2017.

Focus on the high range

Years ago the company had focused on launching mid-range devices – Nokia 3, Nokia 4 and Nokia 5 -,this time decided to break the mold when betting on a high-end terminal – to succeed the Nokia 6 premium range – accentuating thus a milestone in the history of the brand.

The Nokia 8 has an Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system, a fairly pure version that allows monthly updates shortly after Google does; also has the Snapdragon 835 from Qualcomm, the most powerful processor that can be found in an Android terminal that is for sale, as in the Samsung Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8 Plus. No doubt this is the main feature of this smartphone!

The memory of this example gives the size with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage, expandable thanks to a microSD.

Let’s talk about design

Although its metal body gives it an elegant look, smartphone experts warn that the Nokia 8 does not present a revolutionary design compared to its strongest competitors. On the contrary, the brand has been kept out of current trends keeping the same line as its previous devices.

The housing has a thickness of 7.3 millimeters and is drilled from a solid block of aluminum, which gives a superior resistance. The screen, with a panel of 5.3 inches and with a resolution QHD -700 nits, is framed by protruding edges. We still can not predict how successful this outstanding framework will be, when most current smartphones have struggled to present a nearly borderless display. Do you think this design can cool your sales?

What promises the Nokia 8 is a sharpness of quality, colors and a quantity of brightness more than decent, so we are looking forward to see the screen closely to see how it behaves.

Great audio and photography

Among the distinguishing features of the Nokia 8 is the camera, which brings the double lens of the renowned company Carl Zeiss – an assured success. This unit integrates two rear cameras, each with 13 megapixel sensors, one is black and white and one color.

By merging both images, we will get more contrasted photos, sharp and vibrant, with a brutal photographic quality. Also the front camera is 13 megapixels, so you can capture pictures like a professional and you will not lack resolution to your selfies.

Another innovation to tempt more than one is that it is the first mobile to bet on OZO audio technology, used in professional cameras to record the audio. Use several microphones to have a better signal, and record more naturally. A real wonder!

Simultaneous video streaming

The integration of a good audio and image opens the way to a simultaneous high-quality video transmission, with the rear and front cameras. The Nokia 8 is the first in the world to offer live video transition through social networks like Facebook and YouTube using its three cameras.

When selecting the option, the mobile will allow to transmit on split screen what the two rear cameras capture, just like the front camera.

Investment and launch

The revolutionary Nokia 8 will be available in September this year at an average price of 599 euros, about $ 700.
